Robert was born and raised in the Southwest, where he attended the University of Houston and the University of New Mexico. He received a degree in Civil Engineering. After serving as an officer in the United States Air Force, he worked in the construction industry where he managed many large projects throughout the country. He then became President and Chief Executive Officer for one of the oldest and most prestigous construction companies in the San Francisco Bay area.
Robert is the co-founder, with his wife Dorothy, of Adopt A Special Kid (AASK-America) this country's first and most successful national adoption program for special needs children. He has served as Chairman of the Board of that charity since its founding in 1973. Robert has also served on the Board of Directors of the North American Council on Adoptable Children in St. Paul, Minnesota and the National Council for Adoption in Washington, DC. He was appointed to the Committee for Children, Youth and Families by President Carter. Active in the community, Robert serves as a Trustee of the East County Performing Arts Center in San Diego County.
Robert has earned a reputation as a dynamic and exciting professional speaker. He is a member of the National Speakers Association, and is active on the speaking circuit both in this country and overseas. In addition to sharing service awards with Dorothy, Robert was named National Father of the Year by the National Fathers Day committee.
