Marc LordBrother Marc Lord (Delta Xi '84 - San Diego State/Order of Constantine 2010) passed away last Friday, May 7th.Marc died last Friday morning, May 7th, of an apparent heart attack while out for a walk with his wife, Rebecca. We are all stunned at the passing of such a relatively young and seemingly vibrant member of our fraternity. As you all know better than most, Marc Lord's level of dedication and self-sacrifice for Delta Xi can never be replaced. He will be sorely missed.  He leaves behind his wife Rebecca and a young daughter and son.

Earlier this year Marc had been selected for induction into The Order of Constantine, Sigma Chi's highest honor. Although Marc will not be here for his award dinner, we still intend to make the presentation to his wife and family. I hope that you will be able to attend the dinner this fall and help us celebrate Marc's enormous contributions to Sigma Chi.

The San Diego Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter now welcomes TWO members of the San Diego City Council to our May luncheon coming up on Friday May 14th.

todd_gloriaSan Diego City Councilmember Todd Gloria will be speaking on the upcoming Prop C - Ballot Measure. Proposition C amends the City Charter relating to limitations and credits for Veterans' Preference Points.

Councilmember Gloria was elected to represent District Three on November 4, 2008. As a third generation resident of District Three, his roots in the community are deep and his commitment to the community is strong. His district encompasses Balboa Park, Hillcrest, North Park, South Park, Greater Golden Hill, Kensington, Talmadge, City Heights, Normal Heights and University Heights.

Council President Pro Tem Kevin L. Faulconer became Councilmember for District 2 in January 2006 after winning a special election. He was re-elected later that year by an overwhelming margin in the June primary election.

Kevin is passionately committed to guarding San Diego’s tax dollars and protecting our beaches and bays. As chair of the Audit Committee, he worked to restore the City’s credit rating and repair its credibility with investors, and he’s focused on bringing financial stability and accountability back to City Hall. In 2008, he took a lead role in drafting and supporting Proposition C, which passed with 67 percent of the vote. The measure ensures money generated in Mission Bay Park is invested there and at other city parks. He also campaigned in 2008 for alcohol-free beaches and bays.
